Are You Relying on Artificial Intelligence for Predictions?
Predictions can and often are inaccurate without either understanding the planetary cycles and patterns or using professional tools and learnt techniques.
Astrology is a precision craft.
My consultations depend on it. The exact positions of the planets, right down to the degree and minute and how they interact with each other in a given place and time are critical.
While ChatGPT and similar AI tools can explain astrological concepts and patterns, they don’t always have access to correct planetary data or professional-grade calculations. I have often seen discrepancies in dates, transits and forecasting that are glaringly obvious, including Mercury Retrogrades and Eclipse cycles that are incorrect.
By cross-checking against an authoritative source like The American Ephemeris or specialised astrology software, even a small error in planetary timing can lead to an entirely wrong prediction. The Ephemeris is a reference book containing the exact positions of the Sun, Moon, and planets for every day, hour, and minute of a given period. I have two. One covers up to the year 2100. Mine ships from the USA and is not available in bookshops (at the time of writing this). It should be. It is the most accurate orbital data available and I guarantee I can find a date and planetary movements in any given year, month and day faster than the computer and with far more accuracy.
If you want to get you hands on a copy you can buy them online. The author, Neil F. Michelsen (and later updated by Rique Pottenger), has created one of the most reliable sources of planetary data in the Western astrological tradition. The calculations in The Ephemeris are based on NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory data, then formatted for astrological use.
Why this matters:
Minutes count – The Moon changes signs every 2.5 days, and sometimes within hours. Missing this detail can change an interpretation completely. It also includes Moon Phases and Eclipse data. Did you know there are six types of a Solar Eclipse alone?
Time zones matter – A planetary ingress or eclipse in GMT can occur on a different date entirely in Dubai, Sydney, or New York.
Retrogrades are tricky – Without precise station times, advice based on retrograde periods can be misleading or irrelevant to your chart.
Ingresses & Aspects - What time and date does a planet move into a new sign and what aspect will it make? This is critical to any astrological analysis as it will affect the client’s thoughts and actions.
I use and pay for professional astrology software, I constantly update my skills with paid courses with some of the world’s foremost astrologers and as I mentioned above, I use The American Ephemeris to calculate planetary positions with exacting accuracy for their location and time zone. Only then, will I layer in my analysis or interpretation of the likely chain of events.
AI can be a useful assistant, but for astrology that truly supports decision-making in business, finance, and personal life, the most accurate data is non-negotiable. Without it, you’re simply guessing — and timing is everything. What risk are you taking?
