Neptune in Aries: Altering Our Collective Imagination
If you follow astrology you may remember that Neptune entered Aries briefly in 2025, offering an early glimpse of a much longer cycle. It returned on 26 January 2026 and remains in Aries, (apart from one final retrograde passage), until March 2039.
A planetary shift of this length alters the collective imagination.
Neptune governs faith, idealism, glamour, sacrifice, inspiration, illusion and the narratives through which societies give meaning to an experience. It can dissolve boundaries, heighten sensitivity and awaken extraordinary vision. It can also obscure facts, encourage projection and make an appealing story feel more convincing than reality.
Neptune transiting through Aries identifies it is moving through a cardinal fire sign which is concerned with identity, initiative, competition and the instinct to act. Traditionally ruled by Mars, Aries does not wait for consensus. It advances, declares, challenges and, when necessary, will fight for what it wants.
When Neptune entered Aries, our beliefs are no longer content to remain private or contemplative. It demands movement, a mission and someone to lead the charge.
From collective emotion to collective action
Neptune’s passage through Pisces coincided with a long immersion in emotional, spiritual and psychological territory. Themes of compassion, escapism, addiction, loneliness, porous boundaries and digital unreality became increasingly visible.
Neptune represents a changeable ‘water element’ such as fog, mist, snow, ice, sleet, torrential rain etc., and that has not disappeared. What are we seeing ahead of us? This aspect if we think practically can change its form from dreamy to depressing to deceptive.
Neptunian ideas will now see urgency before evidence. Personal conviction can be mistaken for a more objective truth. New leaders, movements and ideologies emerge around promises of restoration, liberation and a heroic return to strength.
This can generate genuine courage and remarkable acts of service. It can also produce crusades, saviour complexes and potentially, the dangerous belief that moral certainty justifies any course of action.
Aries asks, “Who am I, and what am I prepared to fight for?”
Neptune asks, “Is what you believe real?”
Over the coming years, these two questions will become inseparable.
Neptune operating through the territory of Mars
A planet entering a sign must operate through a zodiac ruler. Mars in Aries brings martial subjects into the Neptunian field: courage, conflict, weapons, competition, physical strength, anger, conquest and sacrifice.
At the collective level, we may see the romanticisation of warriors, rebels and action-driven leaders. Masculinity and physical power may be reimagined, exaggerated or marketed as an answer to social uncertainty. Spiritual and ideological movements may adopt increasingly militant language, while political conflicts become framed as moral or existential battles.
The great risk is the glorification of conflict before its consequences are understood.
The last time Neptune travelled through Aries, during the nineteenth century, idealised visions of honour, nationhood and liberation existed alongside devastating warfare and technological changes that made conflict far more destructive than many initially imagined.
The pattern does not have to repeat literally. However, it reminds us that Neptune can make sacrifice appear noble while concealing its cost.
Its higher expression is not aggression for its own sake. It is the courage to act on behalf of something larger than personal glory.
The Saturn–Neptune conjunction: building a new reality
Neptune’s entry into Aries did not occur in isolation. Saturn also followed it into Aries, and the two planets formed their exact conjunction in February 2026 at the beginning of the zodiac.
This conjunction marked the end of one long cycle and the construction of another.
Saturn and Neptune have opposing instincts. Saturn defines, limits and gives form. Neptune dissolves, idealises and transcends form. When they meet, structures can weaken, but visions can also become material.
The question is whether the vision can withstand reality.
Institutions founded upon unsustainable narratives may begin to fracture. Other organisations may successfully convert an idea, belief or social need into a durable structure. The same cycle can expose deception and give concrete expression to imagination.
The Saturn-Neptune conjunction which occurred in Aries told us that leadership and individual authority become central. We will be asked repeatedly whether a leader possesses genuine courage and competence—or are they simpy portraying an image of strength.
Remember: Charisma is not governance, strategic certainty or evidence of future success. And speed is definitely not strategy.
The mythology of the individual
Neptune in Aries can intensify the myth of the exceptional individual: the founder, hero, disruptor, saviour or lone visionary who claims to see what everyone else has missed.
Some of these individuals will introduce genuinely original ideas. Others will build persuasive identities around ambition without possessing the discipline, infrastructure or judgement required to deliver what they promise.
This is particularly relevant to business.
We are likely to see a proliferation of mission-driven companies, charismatic founders and brands constructed around highly personal stories. Businesses may increasingly sell identity, belonging and belief—not merely products or services.
This will either build extraordinary loyalty or create dangerous blind spots.
When customers, investors or employees identify too strongly with a founder’s mythology, scrutiny weakens. Financial realities can be dismissed as a lack of vision. Dissent becomes disloyalty. A compelling narrative begins to outrun the organisation supporting it.
Under Neptune in Aries, the strongest businesses will not be those who shout the loudest. They will be those capable of proving that their mission can survive reality.
Leadership under Neptune in Aries
This cycle changes what people project onto leaders.
There may be a growing appetite for figures who appear decisive, fearless and unencumbered by convention. In uncertain conditions, the performance of confidence can become particularly seductive.
Yet Neptune complicates perception. We may see what we want to see in those who promise action.
Leaders themselves are not immune. They can become intoxicated by their own image, surrounded by people who reinforce the mythology and increasingly unable to distinguish intuition from impulse.
For founders, CEOs and business owners, Neptune in Aries requires an uncomfortable discipline: testing conviction without extinguishing vision.
The essential questions are:
Is the strategy supported by evidence?
Is the urgency real or emotionally manufactured?
Does the organisation have the structure to deliver what its leader is promising?
Are advisers challenging the decision—or simply admiring the person making it?
Has a powerful mission become an excuse to ignore financial, legal or operational risk?
Is the leader acting courageously, or merely reacting to the fear of appearing weak?
Vision remains valuable. Neptune is capable of imagining what does not yet exist. But Aries can rush to act before imagination has been subjected to scrutiny.
